"To teach is to learn twice" Joseph Joubert

My teacher's notebook. Some notes on what I read, talk and watch about education.

About me

If you ask any of my friends how am I, surely would highlight my joyful and persevering personality. Indeed, those two words would describe me quite well because encompass a number of other nuances.

I remain happy with the people around me because I really am, I have the love of my family and friends, and a great health.

I am persevering. I pursue my goals, changing them on the road and setting new ones. I believe that knowledge gives freedom to people, and I try to be every day a little more free.

Some of my current goals are:

– Establish contact with teachers from different disciplines, levels and cultures, through the Internet and international conferences on education. Keep intense exchanges about educational methods and metacognitive processes.

– Turn my speech into a tool to communicate stimulating thought.

– Work with a group of students and be able to create environment for reasoning, divergent thinking and teamwork; show to each student positive expectations that are challenging but realistic, inviting them to pursue ambitious goals and leaving a margin of discretion to the students about their own learning process.

These quotations can also show how is my thinking:

“Success depends on 10% of the innate gift and 90% of the daily effort”

“Before you judge someone, walk for three moons in his moccasins”

“The man never knows what he’s capable of until he tries”

“Many seek happiness as others seek their hat and they wear it without noticing”

“Joining forces in the herd, the lion goes to bed hungry”

“The art of winning is learned in defeat” by Simon Bolivar

“With the vice of his neighbor, does the wise amend his own one” by Seneca
